I Love Halloween!

By now you’ve figured out that I love Halloween!  I don’t know why, i guess it brings back fond childhood memories.   I used to love getting dressed up and going trick or treating with my friends.  About a week before Halloween night, we would sneak out at dusk and ring doorbells then run and hide trying not to get caught.  It was so exciting!

Below is a cute card that I made using the Spooky Hat  stamp set from the upcoming holiday catalog.  I love the witches hat and the bubbly poison bottles.  This is such an awesome set!  You’ll be able to order it on September 1st,  it’s just a few days away!IMG_20170822_093811_683

Stampin’ Up Oh So Eclectic

I think that this is my favorite stamp set in the new catalog!  It is so pretty!  There are so many ways to use it.  Each element has so many different ways to use it.  The coordinating dies put it over the top.

The first way I chose to use it is just very simple.  I randomly stamped the more solid image and some leaves  on a piece of whisper white with the new Berry Burst and Lemon Lime Twist.  Added a little Daffodil Delight to the centers and a Berry Burst bow.  Finally I stamped the centiment and punched it out with the new Pretty Lable Punch.  By punching 2 more Pretty Lable shapes in Berry Burst and layering them behind the centiment lable, it makes a nice layer.  Finally, just layer on Lemon Line Twist that is embossed with the Petal Burst embossing folder and a Berry Burst card base.  So simple!

I am hoping to use this set in a few more cards to showcase this month.  I hope you’ll be here!  Please feel free to order any of the items used from my online store.  judithannstamps.stampinup.net  or just click on the items listed below this post.

Stampin’ Up Star of Light

One of the most popular stamp sets in the 2016 Holiday Catalog.  You can see why.  It is really beautiful, incredibly versatile and easy to work with.

I designed these 3 cards for a class that I held last month.

20161029_131848It was really fun working with this set and the matching dies.  There are so many ways to arrange the images.  All the supplies I used will be listed below.

Autumn Leaves

edited_1473788868707-class-cards-watermarkedAutumn is here.  I love this time of year!  The colors, the weather, the smells!  What inspiration for creating beautiful cards.

I created this card for a class that I taught at my crop last weekend.  It was really fun and there are a lot of techniques that I could show everyone.  I have to confess, I cased this from another SU demo Dena Rekow.  She has a video on YouTube that really inspired me.

This card uses lots of copper.  Copper paper and copper embossing powder.  It goes really well with all the warm fall colors.   Here is my version!  I will leave a list of the techniques below.

  1. First, when using a specialty paper, such as the copper foil as a mat on your cards, cut out the center and leave only a 1/2 inch border.  Use the middle of the paper for something else, like the leaves on this card.  Then cover with your layer and no one will ever know!
  2. I embossed the leaves with copper embossing powder.  It gives them a beautiful texture.  Be careful though, heat from underneath because the copper paper can bubble.  Don’t hold the heat in one place to long time and keep the heat tool moving.
  3. I watered down some multipurpose glue and used that to make spatters on the top layer.  Then covered with embossing powder and set.  It might take a little longer because of the water in the glue, but it adds some nice texture.

I hope you try some of these techniques and have yourself some fun playing.

All the supplies I used are listed below and you can purchase them in my online store by clicking on the item.

Thoughtful Branches

I have to say, I wasn’t sure that I was going to like this stamp set.  But, now that I have it in my hands, I love it!  As demonstrators, we get to order stamp sets ahead of time, before they are available to you all.  This one is a special edition, it is only available for the month of August.  There are a lot of images that can be used all year long and the fonts are beautiful.  It also has a matching set of dies!

This is the first card that i’ve made from this set.  I love the color combo, Rich Razzleberry, Delightful Dijon, Sweet Sugarplum and Garden Green.  First I watercolored a piece of watercolor paper with Sweet Sugarplum, Rich Razzleberry and a touch of Rose Red.  Then I stamped the leaf image with Rich Razzleberry and cut it out with the matching die.  I also cut one more of the same image out of the Sweet Sugarplum to layer under the stamped image to give it more dimension.

I cut the leaves out of Garden green.  I layered a piece of paper from the Serene Scenery DSP pack, beautiful pack.  A 1 inch piece of Rich Razzleberry DSP from the Brights Designer Series Paper pack on top of that, and both are layered on Rich Razzleberry cardstock and Thick Whisper White.  I added a linen and gold thread bow and stamped the greeting in the lower left. Oh, I can’t forget the bling!  Wink of Stella brushed onto the flower and some iridescent sequins for just a little more shine.

I hope you like it!  This stamp set will be available August 1st!

I want invite you to my upcoming Disney Layout Class.  I know that there are many, many people who love Disney and who have been there several times with their families.  I found this layout on Pinterest.  It is using all Stampin’ Up products.  I fell in love with it and recreated it with a few little touches to make it my own.

  • I am offering this as a class on Saturday, August 27th at 10 am at the Holiday Inn Express in Southington.  The fee is $20.00 pp. All the materials are included.  You will need to bring your basic scrapbooking supplies, scissors, adhesive, paper cutter etc.

I am planning to have all the die cuts cut out so that it will save time during class.

I have room for 10 people in the morning and if that sells out, I will open up another class in the afternoon at 2:00 for the rest.

If this goes over well, I am planning to offer other layout classes monthly or bi-monthly.
